Shortly after launching from the winter layup, we were struck by lightning at our berth at Mercury Marina, and everything electronic, electrical with a coil, equipment on top of the mast died.

Having had great service from Bishop Skinners RYA travel policy, I took up their Yacht policy, the cost was refreshingly less expensive than others. Having been warned you get what you pay for when you need to claim I hoped that would not be so. On a wild night in the Caribbean our 47 foot yacht struck an object and was holed sinking some six hours later. Bishop Skinner had no way of knowing if we had lost the boat as there was no boat or bits to see. They diligently investigated the claim, very speedily and the insurance policy they arranged paid out everything we had insured in full. They then insured us for the replacement what more can I say, they did what it said on the tin and more.”
