Partnership of pearls: Bishop Skinner Marine and Royal Yachting Association celebrating 30 years
Bishop Skinner Marine celebrated its 30 year partnership with the Royal Yachting Association at the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show over the weekend.
The specialist boat insurance brand and the national UK body for boating have worked together closely since 1987 to provide members with valued advice and benefits, as well as education around relevant insurance risks. The long standing relationship was celebrated at the number one Dinghy show in the UK with both companies paying tribute to a successful and enduring relationship.
Commenting on the long standing relationship between the Royal Yachting Association and Bishop Skinner Marine, RYA Chief Executive Sarah Treseder commented: “I am extremely pleased to be here today to celebrate the 30th anniversary of what has been a long and mutually beneficial partnership between our two organisations.
“Much has changed in the world of boating and for both companies since 1987, however Bishop Skinner continue to move with the times and tailor their products and services to reflect the needs of our members. As well as having a detailed understanding of our member’s needs, they are also great supporters of schemes such as the RYA John Merricks partnership, providing insurance to some 50 boats, as well as insurance for the RYA’s boat fleet. I would like to personally thank the team at Bishop Skinner for their continued support and we look forward to another 30 years of successful partnership. Hopefully my successor will be here celebrating the 60th anniversary in years to come.”
Bishop Skinner Marine Managing Director Paul Birch further added: “We’ve had an excellent relationship with the RYA for 30 years, a truly great achievement for both our organisations. Our strong ties and close collaboration with the RYA has allowed us to jointly develop products to suit member needs and we hope to continue providing value to RYA members.”
Former Bishop Skinner Marine Schemes Director, Bill Southgate, was a special guest of honour having been involved in the initial set up of the partnership and reminisced: “It fills me with immense satisfaction to see that the hard work we put into building this partnership 30 years ago is still going so strong and thriving. The commitment of both organisations to the boating community has always been absolute and to see how far they have come now instils me with great pride and honour for having been a part of this.”
Donald Forbes, former RYA Marketing Manager who was in post when Bishop Skinner and the RYA started working together commented: “Bishop Skinner was one of the companies who bid for the position to work with the RYA and be recommended to our members as the preferred broker. Over the years they have continued to provide a ‘red hot’ service and have done a truly remarkable job, and when RYA members ring the Bishop Skinner team they know they are talking to people who understand boats, which is very important.”
